Andrea Teves Smith
Andrea Teves Smith was born in New Brunswick, Canada and raised in Bradenton, Florida. She is a shareholder of the firm and has practiced in the firm’s Lakeland office since 1994. Ms. Smith’s practice includes business disputes, employment disputes, eminent domain and land use litigation in both state and federal court, and creditors’ rights in bankruptcy.
Ms. Smith received her B.S. degree in 1991 in business administration from the University of Florida and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1994. At Stetson, she served as President of the Moot Court Board, Research Editor of the Stetson Law Journal, Teaching Fellow for Research & Writing I and II, and was a member of Phi Delta Phi International Honor Legal Fraternity. She interned at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa under Magistrate Judge Charles R. Wilson (U.S. Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals Eleventh Circuit).
Ms. Smith practices in state court throughout the State of Florida. She also practices in federal court before the United States District Court for the Middle and Northern District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Smith is a member of The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the Lakeland Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Polk County Trial Lawyers Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Lakeland Class XXI. She is a frequent guest speaker on employment law topics, such as employment discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. She was a guest speaker for the National Federation of Paralegal Association at their National Convention and the Tampa Bay Paralegal Association. Ms. Smith has also been a guest speaker on construction lien law for the National Association of Credit Managers.
Currently, Ms. Smith serves as General Counsel for the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and will continue her involvement with the chamber in the upcoming years as a Board of Director (2010-2012).
Ms. Smith lives in Lakeland with her husband Brian and their two daughters.
