David A. Miller
David A. Miller is a shareholder of the firm and practices in the firm’s Lakeland office. Mr. Miller has a diversified transactional practice with significant experience in business law; corporate governance; mergers and acquisitions; agriculture law and developing strategic plans for large-scale agriculture properties; banking and finance; debt restructuring; office, retail, and mixed use lease transactions; commercial real estate; estate planning; automotive law; and aviation transactions. Representative clients include agriculture and farming companies, national and regional banks, commercial and residential real estate developers, automobile dealers, and a national fast food franchisee.
Immediately prior to joining Peterson & Myers, Mr. Miller served as Vice President and General Counsel for a large real estate and agricultural company with significant holdings in ranch land, citrus groves, and commercial real estate. Mr. Miller directed all of the company’s legal matters, was a member of the Florida Land Council, served as a board member for a health care business in which the company invested private equity, evaluated angel investment opportunities, and was instrumental in developing and implementing strategic plans for the company. In addition, he was actively involved in a family office creating estate plans, investment objectives, succession plans, and governance policies for the benefit of its members.
Mr. Miller received his B.S.B.A in accounting from Auburn University (magna cum laude), where he was admitted to both Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma honor fraternities. He received both a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University in 1998.
Mr. Miller is a member of the Florida Bar and the North Carolina State Bar. He is admitted to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and Eastern District of North Carolina. He is a graduate of the Leadership Lakeland Class XXVII, former member of the Willson American Inn of Court, worked as a guardian ad litem, and served as President and a member of the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lakeland and Mulberry.
Mr. Miller lives in Lakeland and in his time away from the office he enjoys being with his wife and three daughters, running, biking, and playing guitar.
