Matthew D. Alexander
Matthew D. Alexander was born in Greenville, Mississippi in 1950. He is a shareholder of the firm and maintains his office in Winter Haven. Mr. Alexander has experience in a broad range of commercial and agricultural matters with primary emphasis on contract and real estate litigation. His practice also extends to and encompasses the negotiation and closing of commercial business and real estate transactions.
In addition to his business practice, he has defended personal injury and wrongful death claims brought against some of the firm’s self-insured clients. He has also prosecuted personal injury and wrongful death claims. His experience includes work at both the trial and appellate level.
Mr. Alexander received his B.S. in business administration, with honors, in 1972, and his law degree in 1974, both from the University of Florida. He has practiced in Polk County, Florida since 1976, most recently with Curtis & Alexander, a firm he co-founded in 1985. Curtis & Alexander and Peterson & Myers, P.A. merged their law practices on January 1, 1999.
Mr. Alexander is a member of The Florida Bar, and was elected to serve on the Young Lawyers Section Board of Governors between 1978 and 1984. Between 1989 and 1990 he served as president of the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association, and on the organizational committee of the Willson American Inn of Court. He has Master Emeritus status with the Inn.
Community activities include membership on the Board of Trustees of All Saints’ Academy, Inc., a private college preparatory school. In 1998, Mr. Alexander was elected to serve as secretary to the Board and as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. In 1996, he was elected to the Board of Directors of Keep Winter Haven Clean and Beautiful, Inc., and during the 1997-98 fiscal year served as chairman of the Board.
Mr. Alexander is a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He resides in Winter Haven with his wife, Stephany, and their daughter, Rachel.
