PETERSON & MYERS, P.A.
SUMMER CLERKING PROGRAM
Peterson & Myers considers the summer clerking program the cornerstone
of our efforts to recruit and develop new attorneys. The summer clerking program
provides qualified first and second year law students with the opportunity to
experience the practice of law in a real world environment. Summer clerks are
not restricted to hours of legal research, but are often given opportunities
to attend depositions, hearings, trials, client conferences and real estate/business
closings with our attorneys, and to generally observe the everyday practice
of law.
Our clerking program is structured to provide each clerk with the opportunity
to work in all three of the Peterson & Myers offices throughout the summer.
This allows the clerk to meet all of our attorneys, be exposed to our different
practice areas, and spend time in our communities. In order for the program
to benefit both the clerk and the firm, the clerking program is typically scheduled
for twelve weeks, with the clerk spending approximately four weeks in each of
our offices.
To allow our lawyers and clerks to become acquainted with each other in less
formal settings, we have frequent summer outings and events involving the clerks
and our attorneys. In past summers, we have hosted our clerks for sporting events,
boat trips, golf outings, and small dinners with an attorney’s family.
Clerks are also encouraged to participate in bi-monthly associate development
meetings which often include a discussion of practice management issues.
Although needs change from year to year, the firm typically seeks two to three
students for its summer clerk program, and actively recruits through on-campus
interviewing at law schools throughout Florida.
If you are interested in participating in the summer clerking program at Peterson
& Myers, we encourage you to submit your resume for consideration during
the on-campus interviewing process. If you attend a law school other than those
we are scheduled to visit, please submit your resume directly to:
