Generous Donation Provides Library Resource
The medical library at the Lakeland Regional Cancer Center was made possible by a generous gift from the law firm of Peterson & Myers, P.A. Located off the open mall of the Cancer Center, the library serves as a resource for patients and their families as they confront a cancer diagnosis. The library is an inviting area for the community to obtain the latest information on any cancer-related problem.
Featured in the library are three terminals for Internet access, with the best cancer sites listed under the 'favorites' tab. The LRCC Web site is readily accessible at these terminals with information on schedules, staff, CVs of physicians and the various programs the Cancer Center has to offer.
Specific information on cancer treatments is available to patients and their families in electronic form and hard copy at these work-stations. The library is staffed by computer-savvy volunteers who lend a hand for searches on various topics. Books may be checked out by the public for home reading. This library also provides a great opportunity for volunteers from the area who have some computer skills to contribute back to the community and the Cancer Center.
