Project Notice: Moving I-4 Forward – Project 3 (U.S. 27 to ChampionsGate Blvd.)

Written by: Peterson & Myers, P.A.

The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) is advancing Moving I-4 Forward – Project 3, which will widen I-4 by adding two express lanes in each direction between west of U.S. 27 and west of ChampionsGate Boulevard (C.R. 532). Project 3 will include new direct-connect ramps between the I-4 express lanes and U.S. 27, along with interchange improvements designed to enhance traffic operations and accommodate the many businesses located along the corridor. FDOT has begun appraising properties impacted by Project 3 in order to make offers to property owners.

This project is expected to be delivered using a design-build procurement method, meaning the same team will both design and construct the improvements. Under a design-build approach, project schedules often move quickly and right-of-way acquisition can begin earlier in the process, sometimes before final design details are complete.
