Background

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Vaughn worked for Navigant Consulting, Inc. as a Consultant in its Nashville, Tennessee office and for BayCare Health System in its Managed Care office in Tampa, Florida.

Education

Mr. Vaughn received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in 2003, cum laude, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. He then received a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Florida in 2007, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2011.

While in law school, Matt was a member of the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy and was selected as a teaching assistant for Legal Research and Writing, and Appellate Advocacy.

Admissions and Associations

Mr. Vaughn holds an active law license in Florida and Illinois, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Southern District of Florida and Northern District of Florida. Mr. Vaughn is also licensed to practice before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, Southern District of Florida and Northern District of Florida.

Active in his state and national legal communities, Mr. Vaughn is a member of the Lakeland Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is also involved in the Florida Bar, having served on the Governmental and Public Policy Advocacy Standing Committee, and is a member of the business law division, the family law division and the trial lawyers division. Mr. Vaughn was awarded the Florida Bar Pro Bono Award for the Tenth Judicial Circuit in 2019 for his provision of pro bono legal services. In addition, Mr. Vaughn has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Florida Rising Star each year from 2016 through 2021.
