The Florida Legislature appropriated $15 million to the Polk Parkway Expansion this past legislative session. This extension will be a 5-mile extension from the Winter Lake Road exit of the Polk Parkway to U.S. Highway 17 just south of Winter Haven. This project is in the very early stages; the DOT hopes to break ground in 2024 or 2025. With that said, a lot of work is done before a road project ever breaks ground.
